For teachers: what the studio landscape actually looks like
Based on a curated, researched sample of 301 independent studios across 32 cities and 9 countries. This is a strong sample of the independent scene, not a census of every studio.
Where the studios are
North America is 56% of the sample and behaves like a job market (salaried and per-class roles, ClassPass, software-run schedules). Asia-Pacific (26%) and Latin America (16%) are the seasonal, relationship-based destination circuit.
Who is hiring
Independent-dense metros (Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Montreal) have many small employers. Consolidated metros (Denver, Austin) have a few multi-location brands where one hire can mean classes across several studios.
Styles by region
Vinyasa is the baseline everywhere. North America also rewards hot/heated; the destination circuit rewards Hatha, Yin, Ashtanga, meditation, breathwork, and sound.
